The status of medical need and utilization and It`s correlated factors among selected Korean female workers

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find the correlated factors on current perceived medical need and medical utilization
among female workers who think to have disease(perceived need). The size of samples was 1875 unmarried and married female workers under 40 years old, the data were collected by self recorded method with questionnaire from November, 2001 year to March 2002 year. The summarized findings of this study are as fellows, The current perceived prevalence rate of respondents was 20.2%, The risk factors of current perceived disease status were the experience of occupational disease or accident(O.R.=3.55), economic status of home(O.R.=1.57), the feeling of indoor pollution(O.R.=l.46), the experience of problem drinking(O.R.= 1.46), occupational type (O.R.=1.40). The medical utilization rate among female workers who think to have disease(perceived need) was 25 9%, The affected factors on the medical utilization(unmet need) was the experience of problem drinking(O.R.=6.82), working in shift(O.R=3.33) In unmarried female workers case, housework time, working in shift, problem drinking experience, in marr~ed female workers case, economical accessibility, problem drinking experience is high related with unmet medical need. Therefore, to preventive disease of female workers need the health promotion program to change drinking behavior and to control stress, the policy to minimize unmet medical need of female workers should be considered in work place.
